Family Planning Week Ends Stressing Birth Control

The government was deeply thinking over giving special incentives to the parents who had one child, the health adviser, ASM Matiur Rahman, told a news briefing on Wednesday.

On the concluding day the adviser said, parents having one child are likely to be rewarded annually by the government.

The adviser said people should be aware of the family planning methods and called upon the parents having two or more children to adopt permanent methods while newlywed couples to use temporary methods and parents having one child to take long-term or permanent methods to achieve the Millennium Development Goals by 2015.

Women are still playing the vital role in family planning,? Matiur said, adding that males would have to come forward to take part in the family planning methods and derive benefit from small family.
